According to the General Department of Customs, preliminary figures show that fruit and vegetable exports in September reached over 1.1 billion USD, down 15.1% compared to the same period in 2025. Previously, export values for July and August reached 1.12 billion USD and 1.37 billion USD, respectively.
Mr. Dang Phuc Nguyen, Secretary General of the Vietnam Fruit and Vegetable Association, believes that the high export value maintained over the past three months is primarily due to durian entering its peak season, while demand in China and many other markets has increased. In particular, the supply of durian from certain countries such as Thailand and Malaysia has decreased at times, prompting China to increase purchases from Vietnam.

In addition to durian, products such as coconuts, dragon fruit, passion fruit, pomelo, mango, and processed fruits and vegetables also contributed to maintaining export value. According to Mr. Nguyen, demand in China, South Korea, Japan, and European and American markets is expected to continue rising in October and November as the year-end shopping season begins.
China is currently the largest market for Vietnamese fruits and vegetables. In the first eight months of the year, exports to China reached $3.9 billion, up 39% year-over-year and accounting for more than 60% of total export value.
However, this market is also tightening controls on pesticide residue levels, cultivation area codes, and packaging facilities. Mr. Nguyen believes that businesses need to exercise stricter quality control and traceability and increase the proportion of processed goods to maintain stable exports.
