Lam Dong is focusing on managing and maintaining cultivation area codes and post-certification packaging facilities, linking these to agricultural product quality and traceability to meet the demands of the export market.

On October 1, a seminar titled "Solutions for Enhancing Management Efficiency and Maintaining Plant Area Codes and Packing Facility Codes for the Sustainable Development of the Agricultural Industry" took place in Lam Dong Province.
The event was attended by Mr. Le Quoc Thanh, Director of the National Agricultural Extension Center; Mr. To Van Huan from the Department of Crop Production and Plant Protection; Mr. Nguyen Tung Thanh from the Department of Digital Transformation under the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment; and Mr. Nguyen Van Chuong, Director of the Lam Dong Agricultural Extension Center. Also present were representatives from relevant agencies, cooperatives, cooperative groups, as well as businesses involved in agricultural production, preliminary processing, packaging, and export.

Speaking at the seminar, Mr. Nguyen Van Chuong, Director of the Lam Dong Agricultural Extension Center, noted that alongside the achievements, the issuance of codes is only the initial step; the key lies in managing and maintaining these codes effectively and in compliance with regulations. In practice, difficulties remain in adhering to production protocols, controlling chemical residues, preventing the risk of impersonation or unauthorized use of codes, and synchronizing data updates and management for growing areas and packing facilities.
"It is essential to accelerate digital transformation and update databases on growing areas and packing facilities; clearly define the responsibilities of local authorities and specialized agencies, particularly at the commune level and among community agricultural extension forces; foster linkages between businesses, cooperatives, and farmers; and propose solutions to remove bottlenecks, step up inspections and supervision, and strictly handle violations," Mr. Nguyen Van Chuong emphasized.

As of September 18, 2026, Lam Dong has 1,611 plant area codes covering a total area of 54,298 hectares. Among these, 1,094 codes for export spanning 48,016.96 hectares have been approved by importing countries, while 216 dossiers covering approximately 3,444 hectares have been submitted for approval. Notably, as of September 18, 2026, Lam Dong recorded 173 plant area codes (covering 3,627 hectares) and 61 packing facility codes (covering 137,489 square meters) that have been suspended or revoked.
The management and maintenance of codes pose significant challenges regarding the post-issuance sustainability of growing areas, control over pesticide and fertilizer usage, supply chain organization, post-issuance monitoring and inspection, grassroots implementation capacity, and linkages connecting growing areas and packing facilities with export enterprises.
Code management methods are currently shifting toward simplifying procedures, increasing self-declaration responsibilities, and boosting post-issuance inspections. Management is also becoming increasingly digitized, decentralized to local levels, and streamlined to reduce processing times.

Key topics also included improving the capacity of packing facilities, leveraging digital technology for data management, enabling product traceability, issuing risk alerts, and strengthening information connectivity.
